Just a few miles from Harrogate, this traditional country inn, which dates back to the 18th century, is set among some of the best countryside in the Yorkshire Dales – and not too far from Thruscross, Fewston and Swinsty reservoirs, if you're looking for a hearty meal and a comfy bed at the end of a day's walking. There are 12 rooms, a pub and a restaurant. The restaurant has beautiful views over the parkland and serves a catch-all menu with fish and chips, pie and mash, burgers along with elevated dishes like roasted duck breast with cherry red wine sauce and dauphinoise potatoes. The small pub area is a good spot for a pint and a packet of crisps, and it's dog-friendly.
