The radio sprite casts  a quizzical eye back  over 2016

Where rosy twilight meets the dusk look up and you may spy

A creature tiny as a lark but flying twice as high.

’Tis Fairy Gill, the radio sprite, intent upon a quest

To help her old pal Santa interpret each request

That sundry folk have sent him, hoping he will bring

Not bikes, or toys or teddy bears but some special thing

That will ensure their Christmas will be merry and quite bright

And guarantee a good New Year devoid of fear and blight.

Santa’s sent for Fairy Gill to decode these demands

Written by so many indecipherable hands.
