IAMDDB interview: ‘Can Drake just chill in Toronto and let UK music do its thing?’

Diana De Brito, who goes by the stage name IAMDDB, answers her London hotel room door wearing nothing but a short white towel and a grin wide as a canoe.

“Hello!” she says, as if welcoming an old friend in for dinner. The room, tightly lined with several members of her entourage, is minuscule. I’m worried her towel might fall down at any moment and she’ll have nowhere to hide.

But De Brito cheerily pats the bed for me to sit down. “Intimate,” she acknowledges in her soft Mancunian lilt, before offering her beautifully bare face – almost unrecognisable without her customary Matrix-style sunglasses and bleached blonde eyebrows – to a makeup artist.
